In 1996, the Scatacook District Committee was shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Peter Richard Johannsen, Sr.
Pete was a staunch supporter of leadership in the Boy Scout movement. He volunteered his services to Scatacook District as the Boy Scout Outdoor Activities Chairman, and eventually served the Council in the same capacity. Pete was also an Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 52, Danbury.
In memory of Peter Johannsen, the District established a “Unit of the Year Award,” which gives recognition to the Unit which best follows the Scouting program in the development of young men as leaders of tomorrow. |
